My inner travel editor woke up this morning with an idea to prepare a list of contemporary places in Rome (don’t think that Rome is only about ruins). Save, visit & enjoy !
The MAXXI museum (Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo)
This architecture masterpiece was projected by Zaha Hadid and opened its doors in 2010. Since then all the important modern art exhibitions were held there. Address: Via Guido Reni, 4a
Auditorium Parco della Musica
Inaugurated in 2002, this music complex built by Renzo Piano is now the most-visited music venue in Europe, and second in the world after the Lincoln Center in New York. Address: Via Pietro de Coubertin, 10
Colosseo Quadrafo (Square Colosseum)
Colosseo Quadrato is located in EUR, an area that was built under Mussolini’s orders to home the 1942 World Fair. Right now it’s a vivid district full of offices and commercial buildings. The Colosseo - a highlight of the whole district - is now a headquarters of Roman fashion brand Fendi. Address: Quadrato della Concordia, 3
EUR New Convention Centre
The only from the list that o have never been to! This futurist center was opened in December 2016 and is also called “la nuvola”(a cloud in Italian), which reflects a giant floating construction in the middle of the transparent building. Architect of the project is Massimiliano Fuksas. Address: viale Asia, 40
Ara Pacis Museum
This museum complex for the Ara Pacis was designed by Richard Meier and inaugurated in 2006 after seven years of work. The building, which remains substantially unaltered, was designed to be permeable and transparent in the midst of an urban environment, without compromising the safety of the monument.
Address: lungotevere in Augusta
